Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about diagnostics, pricing, parts, warranty, data privacy, and turnaround. If yours isn't here, call (888) 864-8399 — a real person answers.

Getting started

Is the diagnostic really free?

Yes — the in-shop evaluation is free and comes with no obligation. You get a clear explanation of what's wrong and a written quote for the fix. If you decide not to go ahead, you pay nothing.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome during business hours. Booking ahead guarantees a priority slot and helps us have likely parts ready — but it's never required.

What should I bring with my Mac?

The Mac itself, its charger, and — if the machine powers on — a recent backup if you can. If we'll need to test with a logged-in session, we'll ask you to create a temporary guest account at drop-off. You never need the original box or a proof of purchase.

How long do repairs take?

Many common repairs — screens, batteries, SSD upgrades — are completed the same day when parts are in stock. More complex jobs like liquid damage or logic board work typically take 2–5 business days. You'll get an honest estimate with your quote, and we call when it's ready.

Pricing & payment

How much will my repair cost?

Published ranges are on the pricing page; your exact price is confirmed after the free diagnostic and given to you in writing before any work begins. Parts and labor are both included, and every repair carries the 90-day warranty.

Do you charge a deposit?

For most repairs, no — you approve the written quote and pay at pickup. Special-order parts occasionally require a deposit; it's always shown in your quote and refunded if we can't complete the repair.

What if you can't fix my Mac?

You pay nothing beyond the free diagnostic. If a repair isn't economical or possible, we'll say so and — where relevant — quote data recovery or replacement options instead.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash and all major cards. Business accounts can be invoiced with prior arrangement.

Parts & warranty

Do you use genuine Apple parts?

We use high-quality parts that meet or exceed original specifications, and when a genuine Apple part is available for your model we'll offer it and quote it clearly. Either way, you'll know exactly what's being installed before you approve the repair.

What does the 90-day warranty cover?

Parts and labor on every repair, for 90 days from pickup. If the same fault returns, we fix it again at no charge. New accidental damage, new liquid exposure, and third-party work performed on top of ours are excluded — full details are on the warranty page.

Are you affiliated with Apple?

No. Restore My Mac is an independent repair provider and is not affiliated with, authorized, or endorsed by Apple Inc. All product names, logos, and brands are the property of their respective owners.

Data & privacy

Will my data be safe?

Yes. Technicians never browse your files. Where testing requires a logged-in session, we'll ask you to create a temporary guest account — your personal account stays yours. Logic board repair, unlike board replacement, preserves your data as part of the fix.

Should I back up before bringing my Mac in?

It's always a good habit, and we recommend it before any hardware repair. If you don't have a backup and your data is critical, tell us at drop-off — most repairs never touch storage, and we can discuss options before starting.

Mail-in & business service

Do you offer mail-in repair?

Yes — insured, tracked shipping both ways for customers outside the Denver metro. Call (888) 864-8399 for a prepaid label; the diagnostic is free when your Mac arrives, and you approve the written quote before any paid work.

Do you service business Mac fleets?

Yes. We service iMac and MacBook fleets for small businesses across the metro, with priority turnaround, business accounts, and clean invoicing. Call to set up a business profile before your first service.
